I’m Tommy, and I’m the CEO of A1 Garage Door. I’m glad you’re here.
I started the company in 2007, and we have since grown to cover almost half the United States. Our vision is to become America’s largest and most trusted garage door company.
I am excited to enter the Dallas Fort Worth market to serve more clients near you. Our operations will begin in July, and we are currently looking for high performers to join us! You would start with us on Monday July 28th and be in training with us in Phoenix in August.
As an Apprentice, Installation Technician , you will learn from the best in the industry. Our team will train you on everything you need to know to thrive in your very own market. No previous experience with garage doors required, we got you!

You Shouldn’t Apply If:

You think that manual labor is for other people
You’re not weather resistant (hot/cold depending on geography)
You’re not likely to follow what you were taught in class and apply it with gusto
The Job:
Install new garage doors for residential customers
Remove existing door and mechanical parts
Replace worn or broken door parts using tools
Assemble mechanical parts
Install springs, sections, slats, and hardware
Run wiring to connect equipment
Lubricate and test mechanical parts for proper functioning
Educate customers on upgraded parts and services and ensure satisfaction
Document activities related to installations
Basic Requirements:
Be nice! I know, we shouldn’t have to say that, but we mean it
Able to bend, climb, kneel and stand for long periods
Physically able to lift 75lbs, lift garage door panels above head
Able to stand on ladder
Basic knowledge of hand tools(Power drill, hammer, saw etc.)
Valid driver’s license for at least 3 years with a clean driving record
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test (not including THC) and criminal background check
Knowledge of basic software such as navigation apps, Google etc. as well as tablet and computer use
GED or HS diploma not required, however reading skills as well as basic math skills (measurements, payments) are required
Professional & approachable appearance
Employment requires current eligibility to legally work in the United States
The Journey of an Installer:
Our apprenticeship is a 4 week training program at the A1 Training Academy in Phoenix, AZ.
A1 covers flights and accommodations for the duration of your training in Phoenix. (All apprenticeship/training weeks are paid). You will typically work 45-50 hours a week while an apprentice and qualify for overtime.
Once you complete training, you will receive a one thousand dollar bonus, and graduate to a junior technician. You will perform your duties as a technician in and around your market. Boom!

Starting pay $36.75/hour (Piece Rate) + commission on additional sales/services
Weekly pay
$1,000 bonus at completion of Training Academy in Phoenix (in addition to weekly pay)
Interview Process:
Our interview process is not long, but it’s thorough. We want to make sure that each person who joins the team is the right fit for A1. And that we are the right fit for you!
After we review your application, you will be contacted for an interview with a recruiter if we want to know more. Plan on up to 45 minutes.
Next step is an interview with the Area manager. Plan on approximately 30 minutes.
Next step is when the fun begins: you will be invited to ride along with one of our technicians so you can see what life at A1 is really like. Plan on ½ day.
