Job summary

Capstone Mechanical in Texas is seeking a Service Apprentice to assist in refrigeration and HVACR tasks for industrial and commercial customers. The role reports to the Area Service Manager and emphasizes safety, quality workmanship, and customer satisfaction.

You will work as part of the Service Department to perform routine service activities, support installations, and help diagnose issues under direct supervision, with opportunities for career growth and a stable work-life balance.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or HVACR program enrollment (2+ years) required.
  • Strong verbal and reading skills to communicate with customers and team.
  • Physical ability to perform duties in varied weather and conditions.
  • Willingness to pursue ongoing HVACR skill development.
  • Valid Texas operator's license and insurability for company vehicle.
  • EPA and TDLR certifications preferred or required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in HVACR servicing jobs for industrial and commercial customers.
  • Perform routine service activities with supervision.

  • Assist in brazing and soldering refrigerant lines.
  • Assist in charging and checking refrigerant levels.
  • Perform pre-start up checks and adjustments.

The Service Apprentice reports to the Area Service Manager and is responsible for assisting in a range of refrigeration/HVAC jobs for industrial and commercial customers.



Customer-based activities involved in this position require an individual who is decisive, tactful, dependable, and who possesses initiative and the ability to communicate well with all customer groups. The Service Apprentice must be able to assist in accurately diagnosing and efficiently accomplish a job to the mutual benefit of the customer and Capstone Mechanical. Job-related contact can occur with virtually all demographic groups, with most of the contacts being service customers, other Capstone Mechanical technicians, the Area Service Manager, and the Field Service Coordinator.



Summary of Duties:

  • Serving as a member of the Service Department team which is organized to conduct HVACR servicing jobs promptly and
  • Performing routine HVACR service activities with direct oversight or on-site assistance.
  • Performing related duties as directed by the Area Service
  • Assist in installation, inspection, maintenance, and repairs of refrigeration
  • Assist on installs and troubleshooting of specialized refrigeration equipment and
  • Assist in brazing and soldering of refrigerant lines.
  • Assist in charging and checking equipment refrigerant levels.
  • Assist in performing pre-start up checks on equipment and adjusts as


Job Qualifications:

  • High school graduate and or be enrolled in a post‑secondary HVACR program of instruction of two or more years in

  • Good verbal and reading skills, including the ability to read and apply manufacturers' instructions and to clearly communicate with commercial customers, suppliers, and other Capstone Mechanical employees.

  • Physical ability to perform all duties noted above under the conditions, circumstances, and extreme weather conditions found in

  • Interest and initiative in maintaining and advancing his or her HVACR skills through a combination of self‑study, company training, manufacturers' workshops, and other professional development

  • Current Texas operator's license and the ability to operate all vehicles in the corporate fleet within 30 days of initial employment. Incumbent must be insurable by current Capstone Mechanical insurance

  • Ability to work under pressures of time, a non‑standard schedule, weather, customer needs, and backlog

  • Specialized knowledge to analyze and solve complex

  • Continuous, concentrated mental and visual effort to plan and perform complex work.

  • Maintain a valid TDLR card.

  • Possess a valid EPA card.
