Job summary

Hulcher Services seeks a motivated Apprentice Operator I to assist in transporting, operating and servicing heavy equipment used to clear railroad derailments. You will lift and move derailed cars and locomotives, drive tractor-trailers, and maintain equipment in dynamic emergency environments.

Role involves climbing on/off equipment, handling heavy gear, and working at heights. Willingness to travel and work on-call are essential, with room for growth within a growing, union-backed organization.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Class A CDL with no restrictions.
• Must hold a valid driver's license.
• Ability to work on-call 24/7 in an emergency response environment.
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
• Ability to conduct maintenance inspections on equipment.

Responsibilities

• Drive tractor-trailer or escort vehicles.
• Handle heavy steel chains, blocks and cables and related devices.
• Climb and crawl on and under derailed railroad cars.
• Maintain, clean and set up equipment including cutting torch and welding.
• Dig, hammer and perform physical tasks with various tools.
• Lift up to 100 lbs and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Work at heights over 25 feet on railroad cars, possibly on bridges or in water.
