Job summary

Engineering Services & Products Company is seeking a student apprentice to join our team of engineers, drafters, and support staff. You will contribute to the engineering and design of buildings and related products, gaining hands-on experience with building engineering and 3D modeling.

Responsibilities include creating detailed CAD drawings, laying out schematics, producing 3D models, and collaborating with colleagues to resolve design issues while learning specifications and production

Qualifications

• Develop detailed design drawings for structures, mechanical equipment, dies, tools, and controls using CAD software.
• Lay out and draw schematics, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components.
• Produce three-dimensional CAD models and revise designs to improve producibility.
• Review specifications and data to assess factors affecting component designs.
• Coordinate with others to resolve design or production issues.

• Create drawings and layouts for components and systems as part of apprenticeship training.
• Assist engineers and drafters in developing accurate design documentation.

Qualifications

Essential Duties, Responsibilities and On the Job Learning:

• Develop detailed design drawings and specification for any of the following: structures, mechanical equipment, dies, tools, and controls using computer assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
• Lay out and draw schematics, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machines.
• Design scale of full-size blueprints of specialty items, such as greenhouses, general building construction and equipment.
• Position instructions and comments onto drawings.
• Lay out, draw, and reproduce illustrations for reference manuals and technical publications to describe operation and maintenance of mechanical systems.
• Produce three-dimensional models, using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
• Modify and revise designs to correct deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
• Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
• Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery using computer-assisted equipment.
• Check dimensions of materials to be used and assign numbers to the materials.
• Coordinate with and consult with other workers to design, lay out, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems.
• Confer with customer representatives to review schematics and answer questions pertaining to installation of systems.
• Supervise and train other drafters, technologists, and technicians.
