Job summary

CommonSpirit Health's Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz, CA seeks an Apprentice Engineer to join the Apprentice Program and develop maintenance skills for building and equipment under supervision. You will complete daily maintenance tasks and advance through program requirements while upholding Core Values.

Requirements include acceptance into the IUOE Local 39 Apprenticeship and 1–2 years of related experience, with CA driver’s license preferred.

• Acceptance into & successful active participation within the IUOE Stationary Engineers Local 39 Union Engineer Apprenticeship program.
• One to two years of experience with a minimum of one year in related field.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, repairs and installations for building, grounds, and equipment under supervision.
• Complete assigned maintenance tasks across the facility and equipment while progressing through supervised program requirements.
• Greet patients and visitors professionally and maintain a responsive atmosphere in line with Core Values.

*Job Summary and Responsibilities*

As our Apprentice Engineer, you will participate in the Apprentice Program to develop a variety of maintenance skills, while performing preventive maintenance, repairs, and installations for the building, grounds, and related fixed and portable equipment under the supervision of the Chief Engineer and/or Assistant Engineer.

Each day you will complete assigned maintenance, repair, and installation tasks across the facility and equipment while advancing through your supervised program requirements.

• Ensures a professional and responsive atmosphere by greeting patients, visitors, staff, and physicians promptly and courteously. Refers to each individual by name when appropriate. Screens individuals by requesting to see identification or visitor pass.

• Organizes and completes assigned work in a timely manner
• Addresses duties and interactions with all internal and external customers as committed to Core Values
