Job summary

Dignity Health’s Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz, CA seeks an Apprentice Engineer to join the Apprentice Program, developing a wide range of maintenance skills through preventive maintenance, repairs, and installations for building and equipment. All tasks are performed under the supervision of the Chief/Assistant Engineer.

Success hinges on active participation in the IUOE Local 39 Union Engineer Apprenticeship program, with 1–2 years of related experience and CA driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Acceptance into IUOE Stationary Engineers Local 39 Union Engineer Apprenticeship program.
• 1–2 years of experience with at least 1 year in related field.
• Driver's license: CA required (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Participate in Apprentice Program to develop maintenance skills.
• Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and installations for building, grounds, and equipment.
• Complete assigned maintenance tasks across the facility under supervision.
• Maintain professional, courteous interactions with patients, visitors, staff, and physicians.
• Advance through supervised program requirements.

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our Apprentice Engineer, you will participate in the Apprentice Program to develop a variety of maintenance skills, while performing preventive maintenance, repairs, and installations for the building, grounds, and related fixed and portable equipment under the supervision of the Chief Engineer and/or Assistant Engineer.

Each day you will complete assigned maintenance, repair, and installation tasks across the facility and equipment while advancing through your supervised program requirements.

• Ensures a professional and responsive atmosphere by greeting patients, visitors, staff, and physicians promptly and courteously. Refers to each individual by name when appropriate. Screens individuals by requesting to see identification or visitor pass.

$47.40 - $72.93 /hour
