Job description

In this role, you will be required to travel 100% of the time.

You will need to have a current Electrical License.

You will need a TWIC Card or be able to obtain one in your first 30 days to remain working.

The Apprentice Electrician is responsible for repairing, maintaining, designing, and installing different kinds of electrical systems. In addition, the Apprentice Electrician determines the type and cost of materials required for the project, ensures specifications and drawings are accurate, reviews projects and plans, determines layouts, and tests electrical patterns. This role is also responsible for retrofitting equipment with controls needed to improve the efficiency and performance of electrical devices. This position reports to the I & E Superintendent.

Primary Job Function:

  1. Running tests, isolating problems, replacing damaged sections of wiring, laying conduit, and performing other tasks as required.
  2. Performing physically demanding tasks like moving or lifting heavy objects and digging trenches for laying conduit.
  3. Performing basic duties associated with the installation of electrical systems, such as bending conduit, installing supports and raceway for cable distribution, installing cable tray, installation of grounding systems, pulling cable, and assisting as directed.
  4. Reading electrical drawings.
  5. Lifting up to 50 lbs for the assistance of moving materials for installation.

Experience:

  1. Entry-level knowledge of commercial electrical installation, maintenance, and repair experience.

Education & Certifications:

  1. High School Diploma required.
  2. Journeyman Electrician License or Apprentice license applicable to the state where work is located.
  3. Proficient in electrical installation, maintenance, and repair in all settings.

Other Requirements:

  1. Reports to assigned job site location on time, as directed.
  2. Understands and complies with Strike’s safety requirements (O.S.H.A.).
  3. Understands and complies with all NEC, state, and local codes.
  4. Takes pride in craftsmanship.
  5. Visualizes completed work prior to installation.
  6. Plans, schedules, and organizes tasks efficiently to meet deadlines.
  7. Demonstrates proper use and safe handling of tools, equipment, and materials.
  8. Sets up and verifies field devices and controls are correct for field installations and owner acceptance.
  9. Reads and understands labels, job site maps/directions, instruction manuals, and written instructions accurately.
  10. Possesses knowledge of and ability to properly give 'hand signals' to operators.
  11. Understands the effects of soil on underground installations and cables.
  12. Directs/trains helpers and apprentices in proper work practices to meet production requirements.
  13. Maintains personal hand tools per Strike’s company policy.
  14. Possesses technical knowledge, safety knowledge, and ability to work with live/energized parts.
  15. Knowledge of electrical tools and machines used in settings.
  16. Strong manual dexterity and great eye-hand coordination for working with small wires.
  17. Ability to recognize wires by colors.
  18. Excellent communicator with problem-solving abilities.
