Summary
The Apprentice Electrician assists the Plant Electrician in troubleshooting, calibrating, repairing, and maintaining all plant electrical, instrumentation, and electronic equipment.

Essential Functions

1. Work with 480VAC, 3 Phase electricity in an industrial environment.
2. Install, repair, and maintain electrical equipment such as transformers, motors, VFDs, PLCs, heating units, conduit systems, etc.
3. Replace and install sensors, actuators, transformers, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, switches, wiring, etc.
4. Disassemble, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and replace malfunctioning parts using test equipment.
5. Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment like instrumentation circuits, motor control circuits, drives, and analyzers.
6. Perform daily maintenance on machinery, mobile equipment, HVAC, and PLC networks.
7. Understand PLC programming, HMI setup, and maintain automation records.
8. Operate mobile equipment (forklift, telehandler, manlift) following safety rules.
9. Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and spare parts storage.
10. Perform routine preventive maintenance and record inspections.
11. Diagnose malfunctions and replace damaged wires and cables.
12. Connect power supply wires and replace faulty electrical components.
13. Follow safety standards and procedures.
14. Collaborate with Operations, Electrician, and Mechanics to ensure efficient plant operation.

Job Skills & Education Requirements

• 2+ years of electrical troubleshooting and repair experience.
• Basic understanding of 3-phase power, feeders, and current limiting devices.
• Ability to read blueprints and wiring diagrams.
• Experience with motors, relays, switches, sensors, and lighting.
• Knowledge of NEC codes.
• PLC and instrumentation experience is a plus.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle changes and delays.
• Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays for emergencies.
• Detail-oriented with good record-keeping skills.
• Motivated, able to work independently or in teams.

Working Conditions

• Work inside and outside on a mine site.
• Lift/move objects up to 50 pounds.
• Regular bending, stopping, crouching.
• Safety-sensitive role.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship. Must pass drug, physical, and background checks.
