Job Description - Apprentice Electrician (2500015Y)

What You’ll Do:

  1. Promote Safety. Prioritize safety in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards for yourself and others at all times.
  2. Become Familiar with Tools and Equipment. Learn practices, methods, tools, materials, and equipment of the Electrician’s trade, including operation and storage, and occupational hazards.
  3. Learn to Repair and Maintain Electronic Equipment. Assist in service, repair, calibration, regulation, fine-tuning, and testing of machines, devices, electrical systems, conductors, and related equipment.
  4. Learn to String Lines. Assist in stringing overhead and underground lines and cables, and installing conduit and wire.
  5. Become Familiar with Blueprints and Schematics. Learn to read and draw simple electrical sketches, and work with blueprints, schematics, manuals, and specifications for safe and effective installation.
  6. Perform Basic Troubleshooting. Detect and diagnose electrical wiring, appliance, fixture, machinery problems, and malfunctions, making corrections to improve equipment reliability.
  7. Additional Responsibilities. Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills You’ll Need:

  1. Willingness to Learn. Positive attitude, eagerness to learn and grow, ability to take direction, and clear communication skills.
  2. Flexibility. Ability to work outside in all weather conditions, tolerate loud noises, and work overtime and extended hours as needed.
  3. Mechanical Skills. Basic knowledge of electrical tools, their uses, and maintenance.
  4. Integrity and Decision-Making. Strong commitment to ethical decision-making and integrity.
