JOB SUMMARY
Performs layout, installation, and repair of wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of a 4- or 5-year apprenticeship program in the electrical trade.
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of the trade gained through apprenticeship.
- Good background in mathematics, electricity, electronics, mechanical drawing, science, and shop courses; technical schools are beneficial.
- Must pass examinations testing knowledge of electrical theory, the National Electrical Code, and local electrical and building codes.

- Comprehensive knowledge of all trade aspects acquired through apprenticeship.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan new or modified installations to minimize waste and ensure compliance with specifications and codes.
- Design accessible, safe, and reliable wiring systems, avoiding hazards and unsightliness.
- Create sketches or follow diagrams/blueprints, ensuring concealed wiring is installed before walls, ceilings, and floors are finished.
- Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit with appropriate tools.
- Pull wiring through conduit, assisted by helpers.
- Splice wires by stripping insulation, twisting, soldering, and applying tape or terminal caps.
- Connect wiring to fixtures and equipment using hand tools.
- Install control and distribution devices, securing with screws or bolts.
- Connect power cables and install grounding leads.
- Test circuit continuity for safety and compatibility using appropriate instruments.
- Monitor functioning of installed systems to identify hazards and needed adjustments.
- Repair faulty equipment or systems as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Range: $18.30 - $25 per hour
