Job Summary

Our Apprentice Cake Decorator is a key player in ensuring our pastries look and taste amazing. In addition to providing excellent guest service, you'll assist in creating beautiful and delicious cake decorations for our guests and contribute to the success of their celebrations. Main duties include training in all aspects of the Bakery Department, including Clerk and Baker functions, with a focus on cake decorating, especially for those with minimal or no retail decorating experience. To succeed, you should be a team player who supports others, is eager to grow into leadership, and can inspire those around you. Creativity in cuisine, a passion for food trends, and a desire to connect with people are essential. Our Cake Decorators are dedicated to providing guests with incredible food experiences and sharing our passion for quality.

Job Description

• Experience Required: 0 to 6 months
• Education Desired: No High School diploma required
• Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds
• Age Requirement: At least 18 years of age

Job Responsibilities

• Learn product knowledge and procedures, including product information by category, special orders, cake program, portion control, seasonal items, and color mixing.
• Follow proper procedures to meet out-of-stock percentage goals.
• Apply merchandising principles to generate sales and impress guests.
• Prioritize safety in all work aspects for team members, guests, and products.
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, helping locate products, answering questions, and making suggestions.
• Familiarize with store products to assist customers effectively.
• Handle products and equipment according to food safety and safety guidelines.
• Demonstrate suggestive selling techniques.
• Prepare and decorate products for bakery displays, rotate stock, and follow dating procedures to ensure freshness.
• Offer sampling opportunities when appropriate.
• Record special orders accurately to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, utensils, and work areas to meet sanitation standards.
• Assist in unloading deliveries and maintaining backroom, cooler, and freezer efficiency.
• Follow department procedures, including setup, order taking, and product rotation.
• Assist in other areas as needed.
