Job Summary

Our Apprentice Cake Decorator plays a vital role in ensuring our pastries are visually appealing and delicious. In addition to delivering exceptional guest service, you'll assist in creating beautiful cake designs and provide the sweets that make our guests' celebrations special. Key duties include training in all aspects of the Bakery Department, including Clerk and Baker functions, with a focus on cake decorating for those with minimal or no retail decorating experience. To succeed, you should be a team player who supports others, is eager to grow into a leadership role, and inspires those around you. Creativity, passion for food trends, and a desire to connect with customers are essential, as our Cake Decorators aim to delight guests with incredible food and service.

Job Description

• Experience Required: 0 to 6 months
• Education Desired: No High School diploma required
• Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds
• Age Requirement: At least 18 years of age

Job Responsibilities

• Learn product knowledge and procedures, including product information by category, special orders, cake program, portion control, seasonal items, and color mixing.
• Follow proper procedures to meet out-of-stock goals.
• Apply merchandising principles to generate sales and impress guests.
• Prioritize safety in all tasks for team members, guests, and products.
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting guests, helping locate products, answering questions, and offering suggestions.
• Familiarize with store products to assist customers effectively.
• Handle products and equipment according to food safety and safety guidelines.
• Use suggestive selling techniques to enhance sales.
• Prepare and decorate bakery products, rotate stock, and follow code dating procedures for freshness.
• Offer sampling opportunities when appropriate.
• Accurately record special bakery orders to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, work areas, and storage spaces to meet sanitation standards.
• Assist in unloading deliveries and maintaining backroom, cooler, and freezer efficiency.
• Follow department procedures, including setup, order taking, and product rotation.
• Assist in other areas as needed.
