Job summary

Hines is seeking an Apprentice Engineer to assist in operating and maintaining building systems across properties. You will gain hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and support life-safety procedures.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and some related experience, with certification preferred. The role requires adaptability to shift work, indoor/outdoor tasks, and strong safety awareness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Related trade certifications preferred.
• One year of related experience preferred.
• Interact with employees, visitors and contractors with poise and diplomacy.
• Develop computer skills to administer engineering programs.
• Read and understand instructions and manuals.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preventive maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems.
• Make adjustments to HVAC and related equipment to maintain operating criteria.
• Perform general repairs and replacement of building components.
• Participate in water treatment chemical programs.
• Maintain operation logs for plant and equipment inspections.
• Assist with life safety systems and emergency procedures.
• Provide prompt, courteous response to tenant requests.
• Maintain safe, professional relations with contractors and tenants.
