Starr Insurance Companies is seeking motivated applicants for an Associate Machinery Specialist apprenticeship in the Starr Boiler and Machinery Division. Eligible candidates may hold an engineering degree or a high school diploma with 3 years’ boiler servicing experience.

The role requires strong communication and organizational skills, a clean driving record, and willingness to travel with overnight stays.

Qualifications

• Qualified applicants residing in the eastern U.S. with an engineering degree, or a high school diploma with 3 years’ boiler servicing experience.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills; able to interact effectively with clients and coworkers.
• Clean driving record with a valid driver’s license; pass a background check; travel and overnight stays required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Must pass the National Board exam to obtain an “IS” designation within 12 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Learn basic boiler and pressure vessel operations.
• Learn ASME, NBIC, and jurisdictional regulations.
• Act as an apprentice to conduct inspections of boilers and pressure vessels, ensuring safety compliance.
• Perform 300 boiler and pressure vessel inspections under instruction.
• Complete knowledge checks and perform practical applications in inspections.
• Demonstrate effective communication.
• Pass the National Board exam within 12 months.
