City of New York seeks a Commercial Real Estate Appraiser within the Real Estate Services division to value City properties and support lease and purchase decisions.
Under supervision, you will analyze market data, prepare appraisal reports, and coordinate with architects, attorneys, and brokers to ensure accurate, USPAP-compliant valuations for diverse assets.

The Real Estate Services (RES) division of DCAS supports governmental operations of the City of New York by providing services that are responsive to the City’s real estate needs. RES is responsible for the management of 37-million square feet of City-owned and/or occupied real estate, plus citywide acquisitions (lease or purchase) and sales or other dispositions of City-owned properties. RES responsibilities also include architectural design; space planning and project management; zoning and land use analyses; property valuations and financial analyses of real estate transactions.
These services are performed among the five (5) units of accounting and finance professionals that make up the RES Financial Services team by performing property valuations, lease administration, revenue & financial analysis, lease audits, and budget & lease enforcement. In so doing, there work supports every unit within RES to accomplish their own missions.
Presently, the Property Valuations unit of Financial Services is looking for a detail-oriented Commercial Real Estate Appraiser.
Under general supervision, an Appraiser Level II will perform and be responsible for the appraisal of real estate, with wide latitude for independent action and decision making.
This position may be eligible for remote work up to two days per week, pursuant to the Remote Work Pilot Program agreed to between the City and DC37.

all candidates must have a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent as described in "3" above and at least two years of the experience described in "1" above.
A Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment.
To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level II individuals must have, in addition to meeting the minimum requirements, at least one additional year of full-time experience in the appraisal of real property.
To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level III individuals must have, in addition to meeting the minimum requirements, at least two years of full-time experience in Assignment Level I and/or Assignment Level II, or at least two additional years of fulltime experience in the appraisal of real property, one year of which must have been supervising staff performing the appraisal of real property.
