Job summary

Grand Rapids Community College seeks an adjunct instructor for Applied Voice Lessons. The role requires teaching one-on-one voice lessons to music majors and non‑majors, preparing students for juries and recitals, and coordinating with pianists and ensemble directors.

The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s in Vocal Performance, have experience teaching adults from diverse backgrounds, and be committed to student success in a community college setting.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Music - Vocal Performance from an accredited institution.
• Successful applied voice teaching experience with varying vocal stages.
• Experience with adults from diverse backgrounds and academic skills.
• Engagement in professional development to remain current.
• Teaching experience at a community college preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach GRCC course offerings in Applied Voice Lessons.
• Conduct weekly one-on-one applied voice lessons for diverse students.
• Prepare students for juries, recitals, and auditions.
• Participate in jury evaluations, performance class, and ensembles.
• Coordinate with collaborative pianist faculty and ensemble directors.
• Mentor students in vocal technique and repertoire.
• Follow syllabus templates and required textbooks.
• Meet classes as scheduled and meet contractual time requirements.
• State course outcomes and evaluation criteria clearly.
• Maintain accurate academic records and timely grades
• Comply with FERPA and ADA; respond to student inquiries promptly
