Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC in Seattle seeks economists to join the PXTCS Central Science Team. You will work with engineers and business partners to estimate models on large-scale data, design pilots, and translate findings into scalable policies and programs.

You will own data analysis, modeling, and experimentation for estimating and validating models, applying causal inference, and communicating results to business leaders to drive impact at scale.

Qualifications

• PhD in economics or equivalent.
• 2+ years of industry, consulting, government, or academic research experience.
• Knowledge of at least one statistical software package such as R, Stata, Matlab, SAS.
• Experience in prediction and forecasting in a research or industrial environment.
• Experience with handling of large datasets.

Responsibilities

• Use causal inference and other econometric methods to evaluate the impact of policies on employee outcomes.
• Examine how internal policies and tools and external labor market and economic conditions impact Amazon's ability to hire, develop, and retain talent.
• Use scientifically rigorous methods to develop and recommend career paths for employees.
