Job summary

Amazon Robotics is seeking an Applied Scientist to research and develop state‑of‑the‑art algorithms and software that manage a fleet of robotic systems. You will work with a team of scientists and engineers to solve real‑world problems in scheduling and optimization for autonomous robots within Amazon’s fulfillment and transportation networks.

You will architect, design, and implement robotic applications, influence long‑term strategy, and collaborate across the organization.

Qualifications

  • PhD or Master’s degree in a related quantitative field.
  • 1+ years of programming in Java, C++, Python.
  • Experience in optimization or scheduling for fleets of mobile robots.
  • Strong algorithms background and scalable systems.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and implement robotic applications and infrastructure.
  • Influence the team's strategy and contribute to long-term vision and roadmap.
  • Work with stakeholders across the organization to iterate on design and implementation.
  • Maintain high standards by participating in reviews, fault tolerance and operational excellence.
  • Prototype and test concepts or features, via simulation, emulators, or live robots.
  • Test prototypes with customers/partners and incorporate feedback.
  • Mentor other engineers on the team.
