Job summary

Amazon Robotics' Autonomous Mobility software team is seeking an Applied Scientist to research and develop state-of-the-art algorithms and software that manage a fleet of robotic systems. In this role you will apply the latest trends in research to solve real-world scheduling and optimization problems to improve how a fleet of robots completes tasks.

You will collaborate with an exceptional team of scientists and engineers building a new generation of autonomous mobile robots to power the Amazon

Qualifications

  • PhD or Master's degree in Engineering, Science, Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field.
  • 1+ years of experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language.
  • Experience developing optimization or scheduling algorithms for fleets of mobile robots.
  • Experience building machine learning models or algorithms for business applications.
  • Strong background in algorithms and scalable systems.
  • Ability to work on a diverse team or with a diverse range of coworkers.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and implement robotic applications and infrastructure.
  • Influence the team's strategy and contribute to long-term vision and roadmap.
  • Work with stakeholders across the organization to iterate on design and implementation.
  • Maintain high standards by participating in reviews, designing for fault tolerance and operational excellence, and creating mechanisms for continuous improvement.
  • Prototype and test concepts or features, through simulation, emulators, and live robots.
  • Work directly with customers and partners to test prototypes and incorporate feedback.
  • Mentor other engineers on the team.
