Job summary

Amazon seeks an Applied Science Manager for AWS Startups to lead a team of scientists and analysts building data and ML capabilities behind AWS Startups. You will own the science roadmap end-to-end—from data foundation to model delivery—balancing hands-on leadership with people management and setting a high technical bar.

You will partner with product, engineering, design, and GTM teams to translate science into scalable outcomes and measurable business impact for startup customers worldwide.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of applied research experience.
• 3+ years of scientists or machine learning engineers management experience.
• Experience in machine learning, statistics, deep learning, NLP, or information retrieval.
• Experience in Java, Python, Ruby, Node.js, C#, or C.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and grow a team of applied scientists, BI engineers, and analysts; hire and develop talent and set a high technical bar.
• Own and prioritize the team's science roadmap across data foundation, model development, and the delivery of insights into products and internal tools.
• Set technical direction for the team's machine learning models and data assets, balancing rapid experimentation with production quality, cost, and reliability.
• Scope scientific projects, design experiments, and ensure models are productionized with measurable business impact.
