Amazon is seeking an Applied Science Manager to lead a team of scientists and engineers building production ML and bandit solutions that personalize the SP ads on Amazon search. You will own experimentation systems, models, and online serving infrastructure to support these solutions.

This role offers broad business impact, direct customer impact, and opportunities to scale real-time LLM/ML systems while guiding cross-functional teams toward innovative ad allocation strategies.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of applied research experience.
• 3+ years of scientists or ML engineers management experience.
• 3+ years of building ML models for business applications.
• PhD, or Master's +6 years of applied research experience.
• Knowledge of ML, NLP, Information Retrieval and Analytics.
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of scientists and engineers in building scalable machine learning solutions.
• Develop a vision for contextualizing and personalizing SP ads in Amazon search.
• Create, develop, and drive a data-driven product strategy to define the right quantitative measures of shopper impact.
• Tackle and solve challenging science and business problems balancing advertisers, shoppers, and Amazon.
• Own a portfolio of long-term investments that drive growth of ads and retail businesses.
• Develop real-time LLM and ML algorithms to allocate billions of ads per day in advertising auctions.
• Develop efficient algorithms for multi-objective optimization and AI control methods for the ad marketplace.
