Job summary

Amazon is seeking an Applied Science Intern to advance AI research in NLP, DL, and GenAI, working with world‑class researchers on LLMs, transformers, and neural networks.

You will fine‑tune state‑of‑the‑art models, develop novel algorithms for NER, and explore generative AI applications at production scale, collaborating across teams with mentorship and access to cutting-edge infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a PhD program and able to relocate to the internship location.
• Experience programming in Java, Python, PyTorch or JAX.
• Available for full-time (40 hours per week) internship for the whole duration.
• Demonstrated science depth in a specific research area, evidenced through publications, thesis work, or equivalent contributions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement novel scalable algorithms at the intersection of LLMs and GenAI.
• Tackle challenging research problems on production-scale data with focus on recommender systems, QA, DL, and GenAI.
• Collaborate with diverse teams to solve complex business problems and clearly communicate findings.
• Leverage AI-powered tools to accelerate research, and critically review outputs from AI systems.
• Present findings and insights to the team to foster knowledge-sharing and continuous learning.
