Atlassian is hiring a 12‑week Summer 2027 AI/ML internship in the Seattle or San Francisco hub. You will work on real‑world product problems, building and evaluating AI/ML solutions with mentorship from experienced engineers.

This role emphasizes hands‑on projects in AI, ML, and GenAI, including models, agents, and evaluation workflows. You will translate business needs into technical work, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and contribute to measurable improvements.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in full‑time Master’s program in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics or related field; graduating by Aug 2028.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals; Python experience; testing, APIs, data structures, debugging.
• Hands‑on ML/AI project experience via coursework, research or internship (recommendation/ranking, NLP, embeddings, LLMs, RAG).
• Ability to explain AI benefits, limitations, and when simpler approaches are better.
• Excellent problem‑solving and communication, AI‑first mindset, responsibility in AI/ML solutions.
• Commitment to 12‑week, full‑time Summer 2027 internship (40 hours/week).

Responsibilities

• Build and evaluate applied AI/ML solutions with mentorship from engineers.
• Contribute to machine learning and Generative AI projects, including models, agents, retrieval, and evaluation workflows.
• Translate business needs into scoped technical projects from experimentation to implementation.
• Evaluate AI/ML solutions through experimentation, error analysis, user feedback, and measurable results.
• Communicate findings clearly and document results, trade‑offs, and next steps.
