Job summary

Farmingdale State College invites applications for a Career Advisor at the Nexus Center for Applied Learning & Career Development. You will provide comprehensive career counseling to students and alumni, review resumes and application materials, and present engaging workshops.

Collaborating with faculty and staff, you will use technology to track outcomes and inform program improvements while supporting recruitment events and campus activities.

Qualifications

• Experience counseling or advising college students or young adults.
• Knowledge of career development concepts and job search strategies.
• Experience coordinating programs, events, or student engagement initiatives.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including delivering presentations.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong customer service, organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-volume career counseling and resume/cover letter reviews.
• Assist students and alumni with job search strategies and interview prep.
• Develop and deliver career workshops and presentations.
• Coordinate recruiting events and job fairs.
• Maintain website content and create marketing materials for the Nexus Center.
• Track outcomes using technology to inform program improvements.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to promote career services.
• Assist with reports and data collection for program assessment.
• Represent the Nexus Center at campus events and partner meetings.
