Job summary

Lumen is seeking a highly technical and execution-oriented Applied AI Scientist to design, develop, deploy, and optimize AI-powered solutions that solve meaningful business challenges. In this role, you will partner with business, product, engineering, and technology teams to identify opportunities, rapidly prototype solutions, and deliver production-ready AI capabilities.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in applied AI, ML, or data science.
• Experience deploying production AI/ML solutions.
• Strong knowledge of ML, statistics, experimentation, and analytics.
• Experience building solutions with LLMs, RAG, vector databases.
• Proficiency with Python and ML frameworks.
• Experience with cloud platforms and production environments.
• Ability to communicate complex concepts to stakeholders.
• Experience in cross-functional agile teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML solutions from proof of concept through production.
• Partner with business and product stakeholders to identify use cases and measure impact.
• Build solutions using ML, generative AI, RAG, NLP, predictive analytics, and agentic workflows.
• Develop evaluation frameworks to ensure quality, accuracy, reliability, and performance.
• Collaborate with Engineering to operationalize AI solutions with MLOps and LLMOps.
• Contribute reusable code, tools, models, and frameworks to accelerate AI adoption.
• Stay current on emerging AI technologies and share best practices.
