Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Principal Scientist, Applied AI in Immunology Discovery to lead AI-driven projects in Cambridge, MA; Spring House, PA; or La Jolla, CA. You will design and pilot AI-enabled solutions addressing high-value scientific use cases, partnering with scientists and engineers to translate prototypes into scalable capabilities.

The role requires a PhD with 4+ years of relevant experience, strong R/Python skills, and a track record of building practical AI solutions in

Qualifications

• PhD in AI/computational science or related field.
• 4+ years of industry or applied research experience.
• Experience building AI/ML solutions in R or Python.
• Experience with generative AI/LLMs and related technologies.
• Experience integrating data sources and computational workflows with data governance considerations.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate across scientific and technical disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Independently design and execute AI prototype plans across scientific use cases.
• Develop AI solutions including copilots, retrieval-augmented apps, and analytical tools.
• Translate complex scientific needs into testable product hypotheses and plans.
• Collaborate with scientists to understand workflows and iteratively improve solutions.
• Evaluate accuracy, reliability, usability, and impact of AI solutions.
• Work with enterprise AI, data science, engineering and security teams to scale prototypes.
