Job summary

Capital One is seeking an Applied Researcher to join the AI Foundations team. You will collaborate with data scientists, engineers and product managers to build AI-powered products for banking applications.

You will work with PyTorch, AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface and Lightning to develop foundation models and push research into production, enabling advanced customer experiences and scalable AI infrastructure.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related fields or MS with 2+ years of applied research experience.
• Preferred PhD in CS, ML, or related fields with strong publications in AI/ML.
• Experience delivering AI foundation models and libraries, and deploying at scale.

Responsibilities

• Partner with a cross-functional team to deliver AI-powered products affecting customer interactions.
• Leverage PyTorch, AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, Lightning to build and evaluate AI models.
• Develop AI foundation models from design through training, evaluation and deployment.
• Conduct applied research translating new AI developments into customer-facing solutions.
• Translate complex models into clear business goals; communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with senior researchers to prepare reports or conference submissions.
