Job summary

SRC, Inc. is seeking an AI/ML Engineer to join a hands-on, early-career team building machine learning and generative AI capabilities for defense and national security missions.

You will assemble and curate datasets, train and fine-tune models, and develop evaluation harnesses to prove field readiness under senior guidance. The role spans classical ML, deep learning, RL, and the evolving generative AI toolchain applied to real sensor data and ISR challenges.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field and 0+ years of experience.
• Proficiency in Python and the core scientific stack.
• Experience with at least one deep learning framework (prefer PyTorch).
• Familiarity with Hugging Face tools (Transformers, Datasets, Tokenizers) or equivalent tooling.
• Understanding of ML fundamentals: train/validation/test, overfitting, cross-validation, and evaluation metrics.
• Comfort with Git-based collaborative development.
• Clear written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Build, clean, label, and version datasets from real and simulated sources.
• Train, fine-tune, and benchmark models using open-source frameworks.
• Develop and run evaluation pipelines and report findings clearly.
• Support generative AI efforts through prompt development and retrieval-augmented generation.
• Assist with parameter-efficient fine-tuning and supervised fine-tuning of models.
• Implement reinforcement learning experiments and instrument them for reproducible measurement.
• Maintain reproducible experiment tracking and code hygiene.
