Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking an applied AI generalist in Malvern, PA, to catalyze AI adoption across Cell & Gene Therapy. You will lead AI initiatives that connect scientific challenges with AI solutions, partnering with scientists, engineers, and external partners to drive impactful, responsible AI deployments.

The role emphasizes translating biology and chemistry challenges into AI use cases, designing scalable AI workflows, and ensuring governance and transparency across projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum BS in a core science or engineering field with at least 4 years of relevant experience; or MS with 2 years; or PhD with 0–1 year.
• 2+ years of academic or industry experience delivering AI, ML, data science, or AI solution architecture initiatives.
• Experience applying these approaches to pharmaceutical or life sciences problems is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex projects from use-case through implementation.
• Ability to translate scientific questions into AI solution requirements and outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional AI projects supporting Cell & Gene Therapy development priorities.
• Define project scope, plans, resources, milestones, decisions, and measurable success criteria.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams and external partners; manage risks and stakeholders.
• Lead design, prototyping, testing, and iteration of AI solutions across ML, generative AI, NLP, vision, and more.
• Evaluate solutions for model performance, scientific validity, usability, and value.
