Job summary

AKASA is hiring an Applied AI Engineer to build AI-powered solutions across our Clinical Documentation and Medical Coding suite. You will work with product, design, and ML teams to design and build services, APIs, and tools that undergird our SaaS products.

These products correct clinical errors for hundreds of thousands of patients and deliver substantial value for health systems. You will develop AI-native capabilities across revenue-cycle workflows, collaborating with clinical and product

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
3+ years in a technical role with strong foundation in AI and data analysis or backend systems.
1+ years shipping production AI systems to end users.
Experience designing offline/online evaluations and landing agentic systems.
Proficiency in Python.
Thrives in a startup environment working on challenging problems.
Healthcare technology experience (EDI,HL7,FHIR) is a plus.

Responsibilities

Build features and products driven by LLMs across the stack, including infrastructure for production deployment in hundreds of hospitals.
Collaborate with product, clinical, and revenue-cycle experts to push AI capabilities in healthcare workflows.
Deploy evaluation frameworks and experiments to ensure reliable, production-grade systems balancing medical coding guidelines, user feedback, and auditability.
Work with product, clinical, and ML teams to design and build services, APIs, and tools for our SaaS products.
