Job summary

AKASA in San Francisco is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer, Backend to build AI-powered healthcare solutions. You will design and implement backend services, APIs, and tools that scale for SaaS products used by major health systems.

You will collaborate with product, design, and ML teams to deliver reliable, secure software that supports clinical documentation and medical coding workflows, improving physician documentation and financial integrity for hospitals nationwide.

Qualifications

• BS in CS/SE or related field.
• 5+ years of professional software development.
• Proficiency in Python is required.
• Experience with SaaS products.
• Experience with ML pipelines is a plus.
• Healthcare data exchange knowledge (FHIR/HL7/EDI) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build backend services and APIs for AI-powered healthcare products.
• Collaborate with product, design, and ML teams.
• Design and maintain platform APIs and tools.
• Lead design discussions and code reviews.
• Mentor junior engineers.
• Partner with product and ML teams to deliver value.
