Job summary

Pinecone is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to build real AI-powered applications across the stack, from backend services to APIs and user interfaces. You’ll own projects from idea to production and collaborate with customers and partners to explore new use cases.

The role emphasizes hands‑on work with LLMs, embeddings, vector databases, and retrieval‑augmented generation, along with a focus on scalable, reliable solutions and cost awareness.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering background with production‑grade experience.
• Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript and modern backend/frontend frameworks.
• Experience building APIs, integrating services, and working with databases and cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship end‑to‑end AI applications using Pinecone’s retrieval and knowledge infrastructure.
• Develop full‑stack solutions spanning frontend interfaces, backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and LLM integration.
• Build reference applications, integrations, and reusable components for developers and customers.
• Experiment with emerging AI patterns including RAG, agents, tool use, context engineering, and agent memory.
• Work with customers, partners, and internal teams to translate real‑world problems into working software.
