Job summary

Jobtailor in Jersey City, NJ seeks an Applied AI Engineer who can translate business challenges into measurable AI-enabled solutions. You will embed AI initiatives within core functions, prototype rapidly, and collaborate with stakeholders to define success metrics and business value.

You will work with Claude, OpenAI, and our orchestration platform to build end-to-end AI systems, partner with engineers and leadership, and drive adoption of high-impact capabilities across the company.

Qualifications

• Experience deploying at least one agentic or AI-powered solution to real users.
• Daily fluency with Claude, OpenAI, or similar AI models.
• Ability to prototype full-stack, wire up APIs, and build agents independently.
• Multi-year track record of owning projects end-to-end and delivering measurable business impact.
• Ability to work hands-on with a strong bias toward shipping.
• Product-minded approach focused on business outcomes and measurable success.
• Ability to translate business pain into scoped, shippable software.
• Ability to measure outcomes and business value.
• Ability to work in ambiguous, fast-changing environments.
• Strong communication across operators, engineers, and executives.
• Active tracking of the latest AI models, tools, and techniques.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States, validated through e-Verify.

Responsibilities

• Embed within a specific business function to identify high-value problems where AI can reduce cost, time, or friction.
• Build working prototypes rapidly and iterate with real users.
• Define success metrics with stakeholders and measure delivered business value.
• Build and ship AI solutions end-to-end, from discovery and prototyping through production, adoption, and measured impact.
• Use Claude, OpenAI, and the company’s orchestration platform to build AI solutions.
• Partner with the principal engineer and platform team on architecture and shared infrastructure.
• Build stakeholder trust, drive adoption, and ensure solutions are used effectively.
• Translate between operators, engineers, and leadership.
• Share effective practices, review earlier-career builders’ work, and help shape team shipping standards.
• Report to the Head of Applied AI
