Wordware in San Francisco's Presidio is hiring an Applied AI Engineer to build, refine, and scale the agent systems inside Sauna, from architecture to evals to deployment. This full-time, in-person role emphasizes production readiness: fast responses, traceability, uptime, and cross‑team collaboration with infra, frontend, and product.

You will implement multi‑step, tool‑using agents, design memory systems, and evolve our eval framework, while shipping reliable software customers can rely on.

Qualifications

• 3 years of engineering experience shipping production software.
• Built and deployed agent-like systems: multi-step pipelines, tool-using bots, or similar.
• Proficient across systems; capable of shipping without a detailed spec.

Responsibilities

• Implement multi-step, tool-using agents with real APIs and robust error handling.
• Design agent memory systems to persist state across runs.
• Create agents that proactively perform tasks and send reminders.
• Own and evolve the eval framework with automated checks and human-in-the-loop scoring.
