Job summary

Orr Search is partnering with an established private equity firm in Florida to hire an Applied AI Engineer for its Data & AI team. You’ll work on internal AI initiatives and add value across portfolio companies, with hands-on ownership from day one.

The role centers on building and deploying AI products end to end, owning data, models, applications and deployment, and collaborating with investment and operating teams to scope high-impact AI use cases.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience required in AI/engineering roles.
• Strong data foundation; build and manage reliable data pipelines.

Applied AI Engineer - Private Equity | Florida, US

Orr Search is partnering with an established private equity firm to hire an AI Engineer into its Data & AI team.

The role

You’ll work alongside a small, hands-on Data & AI team focused on two things: internal AI initiatives within the firm, and value creation across its portfolio companies. It’s a lean team, so your work will be highly visible and you’ll have real ownership from day one.

What you’ll do

• Build and deploy AI and agentic products for the firm’s internal teams, and for portfolio companies
• Own the architecture of those products end to end: data, models, application and deployment
• Partner with investment and operating teams to identify and scope high-impact AI use cases
• Take solutions from idea to production, turning AI from experimentation into measurable business results

What we’re looking for

• 3-5 years of experience.
• A solid data foundation: you know how to work with data properly. You can build and manage reliable data pipelines, and you understand how good data feeds into AI.
• Both AI and software engineering: you’re not only a data scientist or only a developer. You understand how AI models work (LLMs, RAG, agents) and you write production-quality code (Python / TypeScript, APIs, cloud).
• AI products live in production: you’ve built AI or agentic tools that real users rely on day to day, not just demos, pilots or proofs of concept.
• Ownership of the architecture end to end: you can design the whole system yourself, from data and models through to the application and deployment, and make the key technical decisions.
