Job summary

OpenAI is seeking an Applied Deployment Engineer to deepen ChatGPT integrations with third-party messaging platforms. This hands-on, partner-facing role will collaborate with external product and engineering teams to enhance integrations, expand capabilities, and align partner needs with OpenAI roadmaps.

The role is based in San Francisco with a hybrid schedule and relocation assistance for new hires. You’ll work across discovery, prototyping, debugging, and executive-level communication,

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering background with daily coding focus.
• Experience designing and deploying API integrations with external partners.
• Good product sense and design judgment for consumer-facing experiences.
• Ability to communicate clearly with engineers, product leaders, executives and partners.
• Ability to debug distributed systems and translate constraints into plans.
• Care for user trust, privacy, and product quality in integration surfaces.

Responsibilities

• Partner with messenger app product and engineering teams to design ChatGPT-powered experiences.
• Deepen existing partner integrations focusing on UX, retention, reliability and features.
• Build prototypes, integration guides, reference flows, and launch checklists for production.
• Debug API, latency, authentication, quota, quality, and UX issues across partner and OpenAI systems.
• Translate privacy, login, and data-handling requirements into technical constraints and plans.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, design, partnerships, legal, policy, and support teams for reliable launches.
• Capture repeatable patterns from integrations and turn them into playbooks for future partners.
