Purpose and Summary
Operates commercial sprayers or floaters to apply crop inputs to fields, maintains and repairs trucks and equipment, and schedules vehicle and equipment maintenance.
Essential Job Functions
- Apply crop production inputs according to recommended rates and pesticide labels.
- Record application data complying with regulations and standards.
- Set up and operate material handling, blending, storage, transport, and application equipment.
- Blend products per recommended procedures.
- Safely operate sprayers, floaters, trucks, and other equipment, adhering to company and DOT standards.
- Perform daily safety checks and conduct pre-trip inspections.
- Load and unload materials safely, ensuring proper weight distribution.
- Maintain inventory control and submit application records daily.
- Ensure all products are accounted for with invoices or delivery tickets.
- Schedule and perform vehicle and equipment repairs and maintenance.
- Keep service records and maintain a clean shop environment.
Other Responsibilities
- Maintain, repair, and service equipment, vehicles, and structures.
- Collect soil samples following proper procedures.
- Follow safety, environmental, and compliance policies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; 5 years of related experience.
- Skills in fabrication, welding, engine maintenance, electrical, brake repair, and hydraulic troubleshooting.
- Business, collaboration, communication, customer service, decision-making skills.
- Must obtain and maintain a CDL with Hazmat and tanker endorsements, a clean driving record, and a medical card.
- Ability to obtain pesticide or fertilizer applicator licenses as required.
- Ability to work extended hours and be on-call as needed.
Physical and Environmental Conditions
- Exposed to extreme weather, noise, dust, fumes, chemicals, electrical hazards.
- May work at heights and lift 51-70 lbs.
