PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
Operates a commercial sprayer or floater for applying crop inputs to producer fields. Also operates and maintains single or tandem axle trucks and other equipment. Schedules and performs vehicle and equipment repairs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Applies crop production inputs to fields and growing crops according to recommended rates, procedures, and pesticide labels.
- Records application data according to regulations and standards.
- Sets up material handling, blending, storage, transport, and application equipment for blending and delivery of products.
- Blends products according to recommended rates and procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and safely operates sprayers, floaters, trucks, and other equipment to meet company and DOT standards.
- Performs and records daily safety checks of vehicles and equipment, including pre-trip inspections.
- Loads and unloads containers, pallets, or materials safely on/off trucks, trailers, or railcars.
- Ensures products are evenly balanced and distributed on trucks/trailers with proper axle weights.
- Maintains inventory control and submits application records daily.
- Ensures all products are accounted for with invoices or delivery tickets.
- Schedules maintenance and repairs of vehicles and equipment.
- Maintains an inventory of parts necessary for repairs and maintenance.
- Maintains service records of equipment and vehicles to meet DOT requirements.
- Responsible for shop housekeeping.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
- Maintains, repairs, rebuilds, and services location equipment, vehicles, and structures as needed.
- Collects and records soil sample information using proper procedures.
- Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct, Environmental Health and Safety policies, OSHA, and DOT procedures.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of related work experience.
- Skills include fabrication, cutting, welding, bearing replacement, engine service/maintenance (gas & diesel), electrical, brake adjustment/repair, and hydraulic troubleshooting/repair.
- Demonstrates business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision-making, and skill development.
- Must have or obtain and maintain a CDL with required endorsements, a satisfactory driving record, and a valid medical card.
- Typically requires a CDL with Hazmat and tanker endorsements.
- Must hold and maintain or obtain pesticide or fertilizer applicator licenses or certifications as required.
- Ability to work extended hours and on-call as needed.
- Occasionally exposed to extreme weather, dust, fumes, chemicals, electrical hazards, and may work at heights.
- Ability to lift 51-70 lbs.
- Willingness to participate in training related to company policies and position requirements.
