Job summary

MacDermid Alpha Electronics Solutions is seeking a practical and highly capable Applications Specialist in chemistry to support product development at the site. You will scale up and test proprietary additives and components from R&D under supervision, using DoE methodologies and supporting analytical techniques for products and processes.

You will also assist in production scale-up, field installation, and troubleshooting while ensuring safe, compliant laboratory practices and strong

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of related experience working in chemistry laboratories.
  • Proven ability to apply DoE methodologies in a development setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Scale up testing of electrodeposition formulations for PCBs, IC substrates and LEDs.
  • Execute DoEs to test viability and optimize formulations.
  • Observe, analyze, calculate and interpret results; prepare reports and recommend actions.
  • Generate technical data for marketing presentations and specific applications.
  • Assist in beta-site testing and commercialization at global GDACs and customer sites.
  • Participate in safety, process improvement, problem solving and team meetings.
  • Maintain high standards of laboratory safety and culture.
  • Communicate effectively with external customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Conduct literature searches and background information gathering.
  • Own projects and deliver specific technical goals.

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for a practical, creative, and extremely talented Chemist to join our applications development team. The Applications Specialist will be responsible for providing local, site-specific support for our product development functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for scale up and testing of proprietary additives and components coming from research and development under the guidance of their supervisor. The applications chemist will characterize the processes utilizing DoE methodologies and the deposits by physical and chemical methods providing feedback to research and development. In addition, they will assist in developing and implementing analytical techniques for products and processes as well as assist in production scale-up, field installation and troubleshooting as necessary.

What will you be doing?
  • Product scale up testing of formulations for electrodeposition of metals for the electronics industry including printed circuit boards, IC substrates and LED applications.
  • Execution of DoE’s to test new formulations for viability and optimization.
  • Able to observe, analyze, calculate and interpret results, prepare reports and recommend further action based on results.
  • Generate relevant technical data for marketing presentations and specific applications.
  • Assist in beta-site testing and commercialization of new products at global GDAC’s and customer sites
  • Actively participate in work group team meetings to address safety, process improvement, problem solving, and other work group, department, and functional topics.
  • Hold self to highest standards on safety. Committed to build strong safety culture in all laboratory and related activities.
  • Effective communication skills are necessary for working with the external customers as well as internal stakeholders.
  • Thorough literature and background information searching
  • Accountable for a project and achieving specific technical goals within that project.
Who are You?

1-2 years of related experience working in chemistry laboratories

What competencies will you need?
  • Keep up with new techniques and methods developed in the field.
  • Ability to maintain instruments mechanically a plus.
  • Ability to work in a high paced and multi-task environment. Self-motivated. Team oriented.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to convey technical information effectively and concisely to engineering, sales, technicians, etc.

The typical base salary for this position is $72,822.00 to $107,732.00
