Job summary

Messer is seeking an Applications Sales Engineer II for Metals and Industrial Markets in the California area. You will be the technical expert driving profitable sales and differentiating Messer offerings through a value‑added approach.

Based in the greater Los Angeles or San Francisco regions (with up to 50% travel to customers), you will support the sales team from qualification to proposal development, build cross‑functional relationships, and stay current with industry trends to grow

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline (Materials, Metallurgical, Chemical or Mechanical) with MBA a plus.
• 5+ years of related experience selling technical solutions in metals processing or manufacturing.
• Willing and able to travel up to 50% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Create, grow, and maintain sales of industrial gas products and technical solutions for metals.
• Be the technical expert differentiating Messer and drive profitable sales using the Messer Pro sales process.
• Differentiate Messer equipment and solutions by understanding customer needs and applying a value‑added approach.
• Support sales teams in qualification, design of technical solutions, and proposal development.
• Maintain the existing customer base through knowledge and relationship selling.
• Gain insight into industry trends and opportunities for new application technologies.
• Build relationships with operations, maintenance, and engineering in prospect/customer organizations.
• Develop and employ industry networks to enhance Messer prioritization and performance.
• Design applications equipment/technical solutions with the team in collaboration with engineering.
• Promote safety training and maintain knowledge of Messer technologies and services.
