Job summary

JR Automation, a Hitachi Group Company, is offering an Applications Engineering Intern/Co-Op in Salt Lake City, UT for May 2027 through August 2027. The internship is full-time and paid, supporting design, build, program, and deployment of custom automated equipment.

You will work with a team of applications, controls, mechanical, and build engineers to design automation lines, create CAD models, and prepare quotes while engaging with customers and vendors.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited college program pursuing an engineering degree.

Responsibilities

• Assist and support Applications Engineers on automation lines for diverse industries.
• Collaborate with engineers to brainstorm and validate automation solutions.
• Create CAD models and prepare quote materials for customers.
• Communicate with customers to gather requirements and present concepts.
• Coordinate with vendors for quotes and SME input.
• Develop and present an intern project to management and teams.

As an Applications Engineering Intern/Co-Op,you will assist and support other Applications Engineers. Learn from some of the most dedicated and technically competent engineers in the Automation Industry. JR Automation drives change by learning and innovating faster than anyone else. As a member of a project team, you’ll work alongside our Applications, Controls, Mechanical, and Build teams to support the design, build, program, and deployment of custom automated equipment.

What You’ll Do:

• Work with a team of applications engineers to design custom automation lines for customers nationwide in a variety of industries.
• Collaborate with applications, mechanical, and controls engineers to brainstorm and vet automation solutions, while learning about the automation industry.
• Create CAD models, conduct automation timing studies, and prepare quote materials for customers.
• Communicate directly with customers to gather requirements, show concept designs, and guide them through the automation process.
• Reach out to vendors for product quotes and subject matter expertise.
• Develop, build, and present an intern project to general management and applications team.

What You’ll Bring:

Skills You’ll Have:

• Basic proficiency in CAD.
• Basic knowledge of electrical/pneumatic schematic drawing packages.
• Computer literacy in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
