Job summary

Oerlikon Group in Huntersville, NC seeks an Application Engineer to engage with customers and develop additive manufacturing solutions. You will own technical opportunities and coordinate with Business Development, Program Management, Engineering, and Operations to drive profitable growth across aerospace, defense, and other advanced markets.

You will lead technical engagements, prepare detailed quotations and proposals, and ensure seamless transition from opportunity to production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, material science, or closely related discipline.
• 3+ years of proven experience in metal additive manufacturing.
• Aerospace and Defense experience preferred.
• Willingness to travel ~10%.
• Experience in ISO 9001:2015 / AS9100 facility.
• Experience reading specs, SOWs, and part drawings.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with customers to evaluate metal components for additive manufacturing and design optimized solutions.
• Lead technical engagements to develop quotations, proposals, and business cases.
• Interface with Commercial Team to pursue and secure new opportunities.
• Support quotations, proposals, contracts, and customer agreements.
• Ensure program profitability and adjust pricing or scope as needed.
• Facilitate transition of opportunities to Engineering and Operations.
• Maintain strong customer relationships and provide ongoing support.
• Serve as voice of the customer to internal stakeholders.
