Job description

Ready to define the future of defense manufacturing? As an LPBF Applications Engineer, you will embed technical leadership within Phillips Corporation to operationalize and scale Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) technology at the Navy's Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence (AMCOE). In this high-impact role, you will bridge complex engineering intent with flawless first-time builds, pushing our additive manufacturing capabilities to new heights. If you live and breathe LPBF and want your work to set the benchmark for mission-critical hardware, join us on the front lines of innovation.

What You Will Own

Industrialize Excellence by delivering repeatable, mission-ready LPBF production that consistently shatters expectations for quality, schedule, performance, and cost. You will bridge design and reality by translating rigorous qualification requirements and bold engineering intent into robust build strategies and bulletproof production workflows that succeed on the very first try.

As the ultimate problem solver, you will tackle our most complex additive challenges head-on using data-driven root cause analysis, relentless process optimization, and high-impact cross-functional collaboration across design, manufacturing, machining, inspection, and customer teams. You will scale the capability by supercharging our LPBF ecosystem via standardized processes, bleeding-edge build file optimization, and best practices designed for ultimate repeatability and massive scalability.

To turn data into mastery, you will capture, analyze, and weaponize process knowledge, machine telemetry, inspection data, and hard-won lessons learned to continuously elevate part quality, machine uptime, and production readiness. Ultimately, you will build a legacy by cultivating world-class additive expertise across the AMCOE. You won't just master the technology—you will mentor elite teammates, share technical breakthroughs, and anchor the future resilience of the maritime industrial base.

What You Bring to the Table
  • Deep, hands-on engineering expertise in Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) technology and metal additive manufacturing.
  • A proven track record of solving tough metallurgical and process-related challenges through data, rigorous root-cause analysis, and cross-functional leadership.
  • An obsession with process control, repeatability, and scaling manufacturing workflows from prototype to production.
  • A passion for mentorship, technical storytelling, and driving cultural adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies.

Due to the requirements of our customers and the nature of this position, candidates must be a United States citizen.

The expected pay range for a qualified person in this role is between $110,000.00 and $120,000.00 annually. If you have a different suggestion, please mention it in your application.
