Job summary

Flowserve is seeking a technical support engineer to provide real-time assistance to customers in the oil and chemical industries. You will diagnose equipment issues, recommend repairs or upgrades, and coordinate with sales engineering and manufacturing teams at customer sites and the Flowserve Quick Response Repair Center.

The role requires a BS in Mechanical Engineering, understanding of mechanical seals and rotating equipment, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Requires a BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical degree.
• In-plant operations experience is highly desired.
• Knowledge of mechanical seals, rotating equipment, and centrifugal/liquid ring pumps.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time technical support to customers in oil and chemical industries.
• Recommend repairs, upgrades, and replacement equipment for pumps and seals.
• Troubleshoot technical problems at customer sites and at the Flowserve Quick Response Repair Center.
• Communicate customer needs to Flowserve and act as primary information source on design, installation, operation, and maintenance.
• Liaise between customers and sales engineering, reliability engineering, customer service, and manufacturing teams.
• Complete hands‑on and mathematical projects, including failure analysis and product performance reports.
• Evaluate reports to recommend equipment improvements, replacements, or repairs.
• Present clear verbal and written technical explanations to customers.
• Implement and administer mechanical seal standardization and customer specification processes.

Job description

• Provide real-time technical support to customers in the oil and chemical industries
• Recommend repairs, upgrades, and replacement equipment for pumps and seals
• Troubleshoot technical problems at customer sites and at the Flowserve Quick Response Repair Center
• Communicate customer needs to Flowserve and serve as the primary information source on product design, application, installation, operation, and maintenance
• Liaise between customers and sales engineering, reliability engineering, customer service, and manufacturing teams
• Complete hands‑on and mathematical projects, including failure analysis reports and product performance reports
• Evaluate reports and data to recommend equipment improvements, replacements, or repairs
• Present clear verbal and written technical explanations tailored to customers
• Implement and administer mechanical seal standardization and customer specification processes
• Organize and ensure monthly “Bad Actor” meetings
• Provide technical guidance on product installation and operation and ensure standardized procedures are followed
• Maintain customer equipment and parts inventory data and support inventory reduction and consolidation
• Maintain engineering‑system data, process engineering change notices, submit corrective action reports, and maintain organized files
• Conduct technical training for customers as needed

Requirements

• BS Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical degree required
• In-plant operations experience highly desired
• Knowledge of the design, materials, and operational requirements of mechanical seals and rotating equipment, especially centrifugal and liquid ring vacuum pumps, required
• Strong customer focus and ability to project a positive corporate image
• Ability to be a team player, problem‑solve, and work constructively with customers and co‑workers
• Good organizational skills, ability to establish priorities and work to specific deadlines
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Computer literacy
• Local travel using personal vehicle and some overnight travel required
• Some physical activity required, including walking large customer sites and ascending/descending ladders and staircases in multi‑story facilities
• May be required to meet medical and physical requirements for duties at customer operating facilities
• Must maintain credentials for customer‑site badging, including TWIC, background check, drug screen, driver’s license, and safety training requirements
