Qualifications

  • 5–10 years in related technical roles.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • Experience translating customer requirements into practical engineering solutions.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with demonstrated root-cause analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with batteries, battery packs, energy storage systems.
  • Experience with power electronics and CAN-enabled systems.
  • Experience with OEMs, dealers, EVs, or industrial applications beneficial.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Ability to explain complex concepts to engineering and commercial audiences.
  • Willingness and ability to travel across the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with customers, sales teams, and engineering groups to understand application needs and translate requirements into engineering solutions.
  • Support integration of batteries, battery packs, energy storage systems, and power electronics into OEM, commercial vehicle, EV, and industrial applications.
  • Participate in systems integration activities for connected devices and CAN-enabled powertrain systems, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance.
  • Provide technical support to OEMs, dealers, and customers as a primary technical contact for application inquiries.
  • Perform technical troubleshooting and root-cause failure analysis on power electronics and powertrain systems in field and office settings.
  • Work with sales engineering teams to align technical solutions with business objectives and commercial requirements.
  • Explain complex technical concepts to both engineering and commercial audiences.
  • Prepare and deliver technical documentation, reports, and presentations to support customer projects and internal activities.
  • Maintain a strong customer-facing presence, building trust through responsive support.
  • Travel regularly to Columbus and Cincinnati facilities and to customer locations across the United States.

Job Title: Application Engineer

Job Description

The Application Engineer plays a key role in bridging customer requirements with practical engineering solutions for advanced battery, energy storage, and power electronics applications. This position combines technical problem-solving, systems integration, and customer-facing support to ensure successful deployment and performance of complex powertrain and connected device systems. The role involves close collaboration with sales and multidisciplinary engineering teams, as well as regular travel to support customers and projects across the United States.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with customers, sales teams, and engineering groups to understand application needs and translate customer requirements into practical engineering solutions.

  • Support the integration of batteries, battery packs, energy storage systems, and power electronics into OEM, commercial vehicle, electric vehicle, and industrial applications.

  • Participate in systems integration activities for connected devices and CAN-enabled powertrain systems, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance.

  • Provide technical support to OEMs, dealers, and other customers, acting as a primary technical contact for application-related inquiries.

  • Perform technical troubleshooting and root-cause failure analysis on power electronics, powertrain systems, and related components in the field and in office environments.

  • Work closely with sales engineering teams to align technical solutions with business objectives and commercial requirements.

  • Explain complex technical concepts clearly to both engineering-focused and commercially-focused audiences, adapting communication style as needed.

  • Prepare and deliver technical documentation, reports, and presentations that support customer projects and internal engineering activities.

  • Maintain a strong customer-facing presence, building trust and long-term relationships through responsive and knowledgeable support.

  • Travel regularly to company facilities in Columbus and Cincinnati, Ohio, and to customer locations throughout the United States to support installations, troubleshooting, and project reviews.

Essential Skills
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in application engineering, sales engineering, systems integration, or a closely related technical role.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.

  • Experience translating customer requirements into practical, implementable engineering solutions.

  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills with proven ability to perform root-cause failure analysis on complex systems.

  • Hands-on experience with batteries, battery packs, or energy storage systems (strongly preferred).

  • Experience with power electronics, connected devices, or CAN-enabled powertrain systems (preferred).

  • Exp. supporting OEMs, dealers, commercial vehicles, electric vehicles, or industrial applications (beneficial).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly and concisely.

  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to both engineering and commercial audiences.

  • Demonstrated ability to work directly with customers, sales teams, and multidisciplinary engineering groups.

  • Willingness and ability to travel consistently throughout the United States.

Work Environment

This role offers a mix of office-based engineering collaboration, customer interaction, and field support. The Application Engineer works closely with sales and engineering teams in a professional office setting and visits company facilities in Columbus and Cincinnati, Ohio on a regular basis. The position also involves additional travel throughout the United States to support OEMs, dealers, and customer projects, which may include time at customer offices, manufacturing plants, and test environments. The work environment emphasizes teamwork, technical excellence, and strong customer engagement, with frequent opportunities to work hands-on with advanced battery, energy storage, power electronics, and powertrain technologies.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $86000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
