Job summary

Insteel Industries, Inc. is seeking an Applications Developer I to design, implement, and test application software based on detailed specifications.

You will work with senior staff to ensure solutions meet business needs and support the deployment of software across plant locations. The role requires strong communication and problem-solving skills, the ability to work both independently and in teams, and a proactive approach to understanding processes and delivering robust software solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or Mathematics with CS/IS minors; knowledge of PC communications and networks.
• Experience with SQL development (1–3 years) preferred.
• Strong communication, problem solving, and time management are essential.
• Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and manage tasks to deadlines.
• Willingness to travel periodically to understand processes and support software deployment.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains application software from detailed specifications.
• Tests application code to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Prepares embedded application documentation for review by senior staff.
• Collaborates with end-user communities to determine business requirements.
• Assists in time/cost estimates for development and testing.
• Travels to plant locations to understand processes and deploy software.
