Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Development, or equivalent with related experience.
  • 2+ years in data analysis, data validation, and solving complex data issues from multiple sources.
  • 1–3 years of financial core programming development experience.
  • Ability to program in various languages and review others' code.
  • Strong interpersonal and professional communication skills.
  • Experience with Windows/Servers administration, LANs, TCP/IP, and virtualization.
  • Willingness to travel to satellite locations on short notice and on weekends.
  • Capable of independent problem solving and documenting findings.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in administering physical and software components of core systems; create, maintain and debug apps and reports.
  • Perform daily system operations and apply updates to improve efficiency.
  • Recommend and implement system security controls across OS and hardware.
  • Help manage devices and Windows-based systems; assist Help Desk tickets.
  • Document changes, analyze end-user requests, and prioritize tasks.
  • Adapt to other duties as assigned and participate in ongoing improvements.

Job Category: Information Technology

Role: Under general supervision, maintain and debug business applications and insuring the efficiencies of Credit Union systems. Document requests with end users and perform basic programming duties to achieve business goals. Examine requests for enhancements using automation and various tools available. Troubleshoot and rectify application problems to provide internal staff assistance researching data and custom report generation. Provide Help Desk support as needed.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • 30% - (Project Management) – Assist in administering the physical and software components of the company's core system(s). Create, maintain and debug applications and reports as necessary. Perform system updates and improve systems and operational efficiency through use of automation and programming. Meet with end users and perform analysis of requests to clearly outline desired results.
  • 30% - (Productivity) – Perform daily routine system operations as needed. Assist with and perform application updates to improve systems and operational efficiency.
  • 15% - (Decision-Making & Judgment) - Recommend and administer system security through operating system, hardware and software controls. Perform analysis and work independently, documenting changes as needed and reasoning where necessary.
  • 15% - (Teamwork & Cooperation) - Assist in managing the devices and systems connected to core system(s). Assist with managing the Windows based systems of fellow employees to provide a reliable and efficient computing environment. Assist with Help Desk tickets.
  • 5% - (Adaptability) - Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
  • 5% - (Analytical Skills) - Recommend standards, conventions, policies and procedures in all areas of expertise.
Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for some development, programming, and integration of software, with a focus on core data processing system(s), between both internal and member facing applications
  • Creates efficiencies and automates processes by integrating software and creating programs that work with core systems
  • Review, analyze, and evaluate business systems and user needs
  • Accurately document detailed descriptions of user needs, program functions, and business requirements to develop or modify computer programs in order to optimize the implementation of software enhancements, changes and/or new software implementations
  • Must be available and able to work on weekends, holidays, and non-scheduled working hours as requested including overtime
  • Must be able to respond in emergency situations at work or off-site locations with little or no advance notice
  • Must be able to evaluate and prioritize critical and non-critical system issues and respond accordingly
  • Ability to independently research new technology implementations and document new processes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Development, or equivalent college/technical school and one years' experience in application development and administration, or combination of education and experience
  • Two+ years’ experience in data analysis, data validation, and proactively identifying and resolving complex data issues involving multiple data sources.
  • At least 1-3 years of financial core programming development experience
  • Programming: Ability to effectively program in various languages, review and understand others programming and implement changes in the environment.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion.
  • Progressive experience in understanding and supporting core systems applications including PC/LAN hardware, software and communication products.
  • Experience with Windows and Servers administration, LANs, TCP/IP, telecommunications, and Virtual Machines.
  • Ability to work independently in trouble-shooting problems and researching capabilities of current or proposed products.
  • Understanding of industry standards regarding system and network security.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with other I.T. personnel, vendor support staff and users.
  • Must be able to travel to our satellite locations at a moment’s notice within the workday.
  • Saturday coverage (9am-1pm) rotation.
