JOB SUMMARY

The University of Connecticut seeks a highly motivated and technically skilled professional to join Information Technology Services (ITS) as an Application Administrator 2. In this full-time role, you will provide advanced administration, support, and continuous improvement of enterprise applications supporting Facilities Services, including the AiM and ReADY platforms. You will serve as a key technical resource responsible for maintaining system reliability, enhancing business processes, and delivering technology solutions that support critical university operations.

As an Application Administrator 2, you will support application configuration, troubleshooting, upgrades, integrations, reporting, and implementation activities. Working closely with functional users, technical teams, and vendors, you will analyze requirements, resolve complex issues, and recommend solutions that improve service delivery and operational efficiency. You will also develop and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards that transform data into actionable insights for Facilities Services leadership and stakeholders.

Leveraging strong analytical and problem-solving skills, you will support system integrations, automation initiatives, and enterprise reporting solutions while helping ensure the security, availability, and performance of critical applications. This position offers an opportunity to work across diverse technologies and collaborate with stakeholders throughout the University to deliver innovative and reliable technology solutions.

This position is designated as a hybrid role, requiring a minimum on-campus presence of three (3) days per week at the Storrs campus.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide advanced administration, configuration, and production support for enterprise applications and related integrations across multi-tiered application environments.
  • Manage application configurations, user access, groups, roles, privileges, and other security-related settings in accordance with university policies and standards.
  • Monitor application health, logs, integrations, data quality, and related technical dependencies; prioritize, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues and service requests with minimal supervision; and develop processes that support application availability, reliability, and service continuity.
  • Plan, coordinate, test, and support new application implementations, upgrades, migrations, integrations, enhancements, and other system changes from requirements through production deployment. Identify dependencies and risks and perform appropriate unit, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing.
  • Work directly with application owners, functional stakeholders, vendors, and other technical teams to troubleshoot defects, resolve integration and operational issues, coordinate technical support requests, and support application development and enhancement activities.
  • Identify manual, inefficient, or legacy processes and develop or implement appropriate technical improvements using scripting, APIs, automation frameworks, reusable components, or other technologies.
  • Research, evaluate, prototype, recommend, and support implementation of technologies and technical approaches that improve application reliability, maintainability, operational efficiency, reporting capabilities, or user experience.
  • Support, configure, test, troubleshoot, and enhance integrations between enterprise applications and related systems, including REST and SOAP web services, authenticated APIs, data interfaces, and associated technical dependencies.
  • Write, analyze, and optimize SQL queries used for application support, troubleshooting, reporting, data validation, data extraction, transformation, integration, and operational analysis.
  • Collaborate with functional and technical stakeholders to understand business processes; elicit, analyze, and document requirements; and translate business needs into maintainable solutions for applications, integrations, reports, dashboards, and system enhancements.
  • Serve as a primary technical contributor for application upgrades, migrations, integrations, reporting implementations, and modernization initiatives. Communicate technical concepts, limitations, risks, alternatives, and project status clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Develop and maintain functional, administrative, and technical documentation, including application configurations, implementation records, technical project summaries, integration specifications, reporting processes, automation routines, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guidance.
  • Respond to inquiries from university departments and collaborate with application owners, business partners, vendors, and other ITS teams to resolve technical and operational issues and support cross-functional initiatives.
  • Share technical knowledge, reusable solutions, and operational practices with team members; provide technical guidance and mentorship to less-experienced staff, student workers, or project participants as appropriate; and develop or facilitate demonstrations, knowledge-sharing sessions, and training for ITS colleagues and functional users.
  • Represent the department at technical meetings, working groups, demonstrations, training sessions, and other university activities as appropriate.
  • Support the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of University information as part of the University Information Security Program.
  • Perform related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate degree and six years of related experience, OR bachelor’s degree and four years of related experience, OR eight years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience administering, supporting, and implementing enterprise applications in a production environment, including serving as a key technical contributor for application upgrades, migrations, implementations, integrations, or other significant technical initiatives.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in writing SQL queries for relational database systems such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
  • Experience supporting digital process automation (DPA) tools with complex workflows and multi-step business processes for example, Kuali Build, Microsoft Power Automate, Nintex, or similar platforms.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated understanding of information security, privacy, access control, and compliance practices within an enterprise environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with technical staff, functional stakeholders, vendors, and management in a cross-functional environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
