Job summary

University of Utah Health is seeking an Applications Systems Analyst II to define system scope through research and implement moderately complex information systems. The role supports various clinical applications and interfaces across hospital systems. No direct patient care is involved.

The incumbent will participate in builds and testing, resolve incidents, document processes, and assist training teams to optimize system usage. Strong communication and analytical skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Clinical discipline or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting clinical applications and interfacing hospital systems.
  • Knowledge of PACS, voice dictation, and EHR software is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in team meetings to discuss activities, issues, changes and updates.
  • Perform system builds and testing for software lifecycle activities with quality outcomes.
  • Resolve incidents and work orders within SLA timelines.
  • Maintain and create documentation as needed.
  • Guide end users on application usage within workflows.
  • Execute and update test scripts (unit, application, integrated).
  • Support training materials and lesson plans for system features.

The Application Systems Analyst II is responsible for formulating and defining system scope and objectives through research and fact finding to develop and modify moderately complex information systems. The individual supports a variety of departmental clinical applications as well as interfacing between a broad spectrum of hospital systems. This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions


  • Participates in meetings to discuss team and project related activities, issues, change, communications, and updates.

  • Performs system builds and testing for software lifecycle activities. Ensures quality outcomes and assesses integrated impact.

  • Resolves incidents and work orders work according to agreed upon SLA's and assigned timelines. Completes project tasks on time with quality outcomes.

  • Maintains and creates documentation as needed.

  • Acts as a resource to end users and team members with regard to application utilization in context with workflow.

  • Performs the execution and update of test scripts, including unit, application and integrated test scripts.

  • Works with training staff and the instructional designer to guide the build and implementation of training tips and lesson plans to support features and optimization of the system.

  • Researches and analyzes new feature requests. Completes system build and testing as defined. Participates in stakeholder review, implementation documentation and communication planning.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform application build and testing for assigned applications.


Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or Clinical Discipline or equivalency.


Preferred Qualifications


  • PACS, VNA experience.

  • Experience or certification using or working with Epic or another electronic healthcare system.

  • Experience in analysis/design/project management or programming.
