Overview

This position is open to hiring a Level II or III candidate, with the qualifications listed below. The position is remote; however, the candidate must reside within the state of Utah or be willing to relocate there. Position Overview

The incumbent serves as a leader responsible for software analysis and design, application and system installation, and implementation. They formulate system scope and design objectives through analysis and research to configure vendor-maintained systems or develop/modify in-house systems. This role does not involve providing patient care.

The University of Utah is a Level 1 Trauma Center, nationally ranked for academic research, quality standards, and patient experience. Our five hospitals and eleven clinics provide comprehensive services, medical advancements, and excellent patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  1. Participate in meetings to discuss team and project activities, issues, changes, communications, and updates. Present project and operational updates as needed.
  2. Ensure quality outcomes and assess the integrated impact. Understand complex instructions and be competent in assigned applications. Perform routine system maintenance tasks.
  3. Resolve incidents and work orders according to SLAs and timelines. Complete project tasks on time with quality outcomes. Mentor junior analysts in issue resolution and routine tasks.
  4. Document data elements, data movement, interfacing applications, and shared data elements. Develop process controls and implement security processes for supported applications. Understand application integration points and master files.
  5. Build, test, and troubleshoot complex application settings/features with minimal guidance. Ensure analysis considers IT standards, technical requirements, and business needs. Document testing plans to validate system builds.
  6. Handle intake of information regarding potential system enhancements. Research and analyze new functionalities, recommend options, and assist with implementation lifecycle.
  7. May be responsible for project analysis, planning, small to medium project management, and daily operational activities related to assigned systems, applications, and projects.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Expertise in analysis, process design, workflow, research, installation/implementation, and support of software applications and systems.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under high stress in a changing environment.
  • Flexibility to accept assignments, including on-call and overtime.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to prioritize.
  • Technical management and problem resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of operational healthcare hospital workflows.
  • Knowledge of system configuration, data tools, concepts, techniques, and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency in executing application build and testing.
  • Advanced SQL and PL/SQL skills.

Qualifications

Required for Level II

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Clinical Discipline, or equivalent.

Required for Level III

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Clinical Discipline, or equivalent.
  • Plus 3 years of programming and systems analysis experience, with proven experience in systems application process and workflow analysis.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Must meet requirements with or without accommodations. This is a sedentary position that may involve exerting up to 10 pounds, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects. Involves sitting most of the time and no exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
